Green Week

Well Green Week is over and the one thing that stuck out in my mind is that people with compromised immune systems have been a step ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to awareness of the often devastating effects of the every day chemicals we subject oursleves and our families to everyday.

I don't know how many times this week I saw a breaking news, cutting edge report that spoke on the subject. Reports like those that can be found at the websites listed below didn't tell me, a person with Fibro, CFS and mild MCS anything I don't already know.

After visiting the links below and learning why it is important to begin to read the labels of products that you put in and on your body everyday, visit www.cleure.com/faces and learn about a company that was way ahead of the Green Movement.

Reports that discussed the importance of eliminating toxic chemicals in personal care products, or at least discussed some of the hidden hazards of chemicals in these products include but are not limited to:

www.Oprah.com Oprah did a show on being green and asked the question "Are the products in your bathroom hurting you?" Well we asked a similar question "What's in your personal care cabinet [or on your counter]? on January 02, 2008. The people at safecosmetics.org have been asking that question for years.

Good Morning America did a piece and has an article on toxic cosmetics.

The View talked about "growing up green" and demonstrated some 'gree' personal care products.

Hair loss Isn't Just for Men

The Following article comes from Flora Stay, DDS - founder of Cleure, inc.

It's true, hair loss happens to women as well as men. This may come as a shock, but hair loss in women is not as rare as what you might think. The fact is, women do experience hair loss, but they may not realize it until later in life.

Just like with men, hair loss in women comes on gradually. Unless you are paying attention, you may gaze into the mirror one morning and be shocked that your hair appears to have lost its fullness; there may be thinning spots, which upon close inspection reveal balding areas.

1 Out of Every 3 Women Will Lose Hair

When a woman begins losing her hair, it is usually due to a condition known as androgenetic alopecia. The result of this form of hair loss is a thinning of the hair in the top, and front areas of the head. Androgenetic alopecia is hereditary and can be inherited from either side of the family. It is estimated that about 33% of postmenopausal women experience hair loss that can be contributed to androgenetic alopecia.

Additional causes of hair loss in women include, stress, birth control pills, and hormone imbalance. Though distressing, hair loss due to these causes normally only lasts about a year.

Research has shown that by applying a tissue nutrient such as Emu oil, the tissue becomes healthier and alive. In addition to restoring health to tissue, the regular use of Emu oil has shown to bring up to 80% of the hair follicles out of their dormant state. This allows for additional hair growth, and not only that, the hair is healthier.

Cleure's emu oil can be found at http://www.cleure.com/SkinCare_EmuOil.aspx?ID=faces.

Oral Health and Systemic Diseases

One of the fastest ways to absorb anything into the body is through the mouth.

National lecturer and Dental School professor, Flora Stay, DDS has stated that “Your daily routine of brushing your teeth with your favorite toothpaste, may also be delivering a daily dose of antibiotics or other potentially toxic ingredients, without you realizing it.” Recent reports on national television have unveiled the disturbing fact that many communities are exposed to medication and other toxins through drinking water.

There is no doubt that oral health and general well-being are inextricably bound. Many conditions that plague the body are manifested in the mouth, a readily accessible vantage point from which to view the onset, progress, and management of numerous systemic diseases.

Recent studies have implicated the following conditions as having major connections to poor oral health:

Diabetes mellitus
Heart disease
Chronic degenerative diseases
Low birth weight preterm babies
AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome)

We must begin pay closer attention to the ingredients of personal care, dental care, hair care products and cosmetics that we use on and in our body.

Mercury and Mascara

From BlackDoctor.org

This is a perfect example of why all consumers should be aware of and be wary of the ingredients used in our cosmetics, dental care personal care, hair care, body care and nail care products that we use every day. Awareness of the issue of toxic chemicals, ingested orally, through our skin and hair is being brought to the attention of the general population as well as people with Fibromyalgia, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, and other chronic health conditions and compromised immune systems.

(BlackDoctor.org) -- Starting Jan 1st, 2008 the state wide law banning mercury in mascaras, eye liners and skin-lightening creams took effect in Minnesota.
This bold move to ban mercury in makeup makes the great state of Minnesota the first state in the nation to ban intentionally added mercury in cosmetics and sets a tougher standard than the federal government for regulating cosmetic ingredients. "Mercury does cause neurological damage to people even in tiny quantities," said Sen. John Marty, the Democrat who sponsored the ban. "Every source of mercury adds to it. We wanted to make sure it wasn't here."
